SkyView™ and Sustainability
At BIOS Lighting, we believe transparency is important to building a healthier, more sustainable future. That’s why we’ve aligned our SkyView™ products with leading global standards in material health and sustainable design — including WELL Building Standard, Declare, LEED, and the HPD.
WELL Building Standard Contribution
SkyView™ Tile meets WELL for Circadian Lighting Criteria as it hits the 240EML equivalent melanopic lux to get you 3 points in this category.
It also meets the WELL criteria for Glare, with a UGR (Unified Glare Rating) of less than 19. SkyView™ is helping to create indoor environments that prioritize human health and well-being.
Declare Label – Red List Approved
SkyView™ is proud to be listed in the Declare database, often referred to as a “nutrition label” for building products. Declare provides full disclosure of product ingredients to help specifiers select materials that support healthy environments.
SkyView™ Tile is Declare Red List Approved, meaning it contains no intentionally added chemicals on the Living Building Challenge Red List — the most stringent benchmark for hazardous substances in building materials. This approval reflects our commitment to transparency and occupant health.
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)
SkyView™ products are designed to align with the key lighting criteria outlined by LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). They minimize direct glare (UGR < 19 or appropriate shielding), feature high Color Rendering Index (CRI ≥ 80), limit luminance within the field of view, and incorporate indirect or diffuse lighting for occupant comfort.
Beyond performance, SkyView™ Tiles also reflect LEED’s commitment to environmental responsibility—they are Declare Red List Approved and manufactured with over 70% recycled content in both luminaire production and packaging, supporting healthier spaces while advancing sustainability goals.
Health Product Declaration (HPD)
SkyView™ Tile also meets the requirements for HPD (Health Product Declaration), which offers a standardized report of the chemical contents and associated health hazards of product materials. This allows architects, designers, and sustainability consultants to evaluate our products for health-based design.
